The US election at THG

On the night of November 5th, the American Election Night took place again at THG. Students from grades 12 and 13 were invited to stay overnight at school. Some American native speakers who work or study in Germany joined us. After a very interesting presentation by one of the American guests about life in the USA and how it compares to life in Germany, we broke up into small groups to talk and exchange ideas with our guests.

After that, we had hot dogs, finger food, and drinks. The rest of the time we could spend as we wished. We had the fireplace in the school yard (thanks to the Guy Fawkes event for year 6 students the same evening), we could play games or sing karaoke in the school hall. All the while, a lifestream of the election was projected on the big screen. Later that night, we gathered in the school hall to watch the first election results. Unfortunately, the results were “too early to call”, so we decided to go to sleep one by one. The next morning, we had breakfast at school and with the first bell all classrooms were ready for the lessons. The morning classes were tough, but all in all, it was a night full of joy and fun.
